(VI) (DM) These are the U.S. Representatives who voted to ban GMO labeling and deny your right to know what you’re eating / Petition: Stop the ‘DARK Act’ that Would Make GMO Labeling Illegal!

It appears it was mostly the Republicans that sold us out on this one big time. You should call your congressman and ask why he or she voted for this bill. Tell them that long term independent studies that were not paid for by the biotech companies show that GMO crops cause cancer and tumors in rats and host of other debilitating health issues. Then let them know that all GMO crops are drenched with Monsanto’s Glyphosate, which World Health Organization has said probably causes cancer, and that documents have come to light that show that the EPA has known glyphosate caused cancer for over 30 years and did nothing to alert the public. See how they respond. Then say, “Well, you just lost my vote in your next election.” –MrT.

(NaturalNews) “We should not raise prices on consumers based on the wishes of a handful of activists,” said Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.), who just became consumer enemy number one after he decided to author a bill that destroys any chance Americans have of knowing what’s in their food, specifically whether or not they contain genetically modified ingredients, or GMOs.

What Pompeo isn’t telling you, and in fact is deliberately covering up, is that Americans overwhelmingly support GMO labeling (we’re talking in the 90th percentile); you can view proof of that support here, here and here.

Pompeo, who has likely been paid VERY well by Big Food lobbyists to spearhead this initiative, has made it his mission to make sure that you and your family continue eating foods made from crops that are genetically engineered to withstand high doses of Monsanto’s Roundup, which by the way, its primary ingredient, glyphosate, was labeled as being “probably” carcinogenic to humans by the World Health Organization last spring.

Scientists also concluded that glyphosate is “genotoxic,” meaning that it damages DNA and there’s actually no safe level of exposure.

But Pompeo doesn’t want you to know any of that. In fact, he’s worried that GMO labeling will only confuse you. Are you insulted? Well, you should be.

Named the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2015 by a bunch of politicians who know next to nothing about GMOs, and the DARK Act (Denying Americans the Right to Know) by passionate food activists and consumer groups who have practically dedicated their lives to bringing awareness about the dangers of GMOs, the legislation that was recently passed in the House Committee prevents all states from enacting their own GMO labeling laws, ever.

It also strips states like Vermont, which already passed GMO labeling, their right from doing so.

Below is a list of politicians actively working to keep you and your family in the dark regarding the dangers of GMOs. Click here for their contact information.

Petition: Stop the ‘DARK Act’ that Would Make GMO Labeling Illegal!

Don’t let GMO labeling be illegalized

Statewide GMO labeling may soon become illegal in the United States if the Senate passes the ‘DARK Act,’ which is formally known as the ‘Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act.’ We need your help to make it so this bill doesn’t become law.

The House of Representatives has already voted to pass the DARK Act, and there is little time left to sound the alarm before the Senate votes on the legislation.

We’re talking about a bill that was drafted up by the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA), and pushed on us by all the usual suspects, all the ones who are afraid of you actually knowing what’s in your food. Because even if you don’t care about the genetic alteration of your food, you most certainly should be concerned as to whether or not it has been doused in Monsanto’s cancer-linked herbicides.

As Reuters reports:

“The U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday passed a hotly debated measure that blocks any mandatory labeling of foods made with genetically engineered crops, including pre-empting a state law set to take effect next year in Vermont… Opponents countered that 64 other countries require labeling of GMO foods, the science on safety is mixed, and consumers have a right to know if their food is made with GMOs.”

We need your help in protecting our food rights. Please sign the petition below to let your voice be heard and share this with your friends and family. Obama promised in 2007 to label GMOs, and now GMO labeling may be buried deeper than ever.

We believe that we DO have a right to know what’s in our food. Let’s stop the DARK Act now before it becomes a law, and tell the Senate ‘NO’ on the DARK Act!
